Blog Post 1: Crime Junkies Podcast
One of my hobbies is listening and reading about true crime, because I find it so compelling and interesting to look into. One of my favourite podcasts is “Crime Junkies” and I listen to it when I’m on long drives or walks, because the discussion between the two hosts are very easy to follow. One of the cool things about their website and platform that goes along with the podcast, is that it always has extra features like links to 911 calls from the case, maps of houses involved in the case and other visuals to assist in the understanding of the crime at hand.
What I love about crime junkies is that it exists as a tool to help deliver awareness of unsolved cases, and if listeners happen to have any information on certain cases that they may only have understood they knew after hearing the podcast, they can assist in solving the case. This has actually occurred before, where a listener of the podcast heard information on an unsolved case and was able to reach out and give the information they had to help locate the missing individual. Overall, I think “Crime Junkies” is an entertaining but also though-provoking podcast worth listening to.
Hey Kaileigh,
ReplyDeleteI checked out the link you attached to your post, and it really reminded me of a show I used to watch called 'Forensic Files'. Listening to the Christie Mullins episode along with seeing the pictures from the case definitely grabbed my attention, as I could match a face to a name being discussed. I definitely enjoyed listening to this podcast, great work.
Hey Kaileigh, great job with your initial post, I enjoyed learning about one of your hobbies! Your post stood out to me in particular because I can relate to it. As a student working in law enforcement, I have always had a passion for criminology and law, so I would definitely consider myself a fan of podcasts. One specific podcast I listen to often is True Crime. Similar to you, I find myself listening to podcasts when I have long drives, walks, and sometimes when I am getting ready. I actually find listening to 911 calls very interesting, and since we seem to have that in common, I have to recommend one of my favourite shows called "911." If you haven't already watched it you should totally check it out.
ReplyDeleteHi Kaileigh, as someone who finds true crime interesting, while highly disturbing, but doesn't listen to podcasts on it, your post was very eye-opening. I didn't know the podcast has prompted listeners to help with unsolved cases, that's very cool! I wonder how the Crime Junkies podcast hosts verify the accuracy of the information found by listeners?
