I have decided to choose the second articulation to explore in regards to these examples, discussing how media modes of productions are simultaneously a mode of communication, modes of affect, and a mode of accumulation.
Firstly, Martin Luther’s 95 Theses can be seen as a mode of accumulation in the sense that it shifted power dynamics. What I mean by this is the fact that it undermined the authority of the Catholic Church and challenged the existing power structures. This example can also be seen as a mode of communication because it helped to spread his ideas into the public sparked conversations among the public, which helped to communicate his message. Finally, it can be seen as a mode of affect because it created strong feelings among the public that pushed people to take action.
The second articulation can also be related to the meme "OH LAWD HE COMIN." Firstly, it relates to mode of communication because the meme itself is used as a form of communication to spread (in this case) funny content among a large population through social media platforms. It relates to modes of affect because the meme itself shows how social media can provoke emotional responses and understandings of certain information. In this case, a size chart for cats provokes a people to laugh and therefor interact with the meme. It also provoked certain controversy. Finally, this meme relates to modes of accumulation through social media users interacting with it, reposting it, and sharing it with others.
Samantha, your look into how media works shows an interesting connection between how we communicate, feel, and gather information. The example of Martin Luther's 95 Theses demonstartes this fusion vividly, as it shared his ideas and caused big changes in who had power, making people feel strongly about it. Similarly, your discussion of the meme "OH LAWD HE COMIN" illustrates how modern forms of communication, such as social media, serve as platforms for spreading content, evoking emotional reactions, and gathering interactions. Personally, I find these examples particularly intriguing as they highlight the multifaceted nature of media and its impact on society. Thank you for sharing these enlightening observations.
